Internet Dating - Develop The Right Attitude For Online Dating Success

By Lara Lopez Many dating sites are pretty similar. They will hate me for saying this, but your level of success depends to a large extent not on the specific site you pick or on its magic formulas, but on you. If you don't have a healthy attitude about yourself, you won't attract people or at least, not the right kind of people. If you don't like yourself and where you are at in your life, you can't very well expect people to like you. If you are going through a divorce or separation, give yourself some time before jumping into the dating pool: become more accepting of your life as it is and start to accept your identity as being single again. When you do start approaching others, don't expect instant success. Some suggestions for how to develop a positive and realistic attitude about online dating: Online dating can be likened to applying for a job online. There is a huge pool of prospective applicants, and you can't expect to find success immediately. You need to be persistent and resilient. It starts with your attitude: Take care to take and enhance some good photos of yourself; photos are among the most important parts of any profile. Present yourself in a positive way; take care to spell check and organize the text in your essays. Expect to meet a lot of people before you "click" with someone; don't get discouraged if you're online for weeks at a time without any success; hang in there and have fun getting to know people. If your initial goal is to have coffee with some nice people in interesting venues, you won't be disappointed if that is all that develops at first. To many people when they first begin online dating, their impulse is to think every match was potentially "the one." They get inordinately excited and apprehensive before a meeting, and then become discouraged when things didn't go as planned. Learn to be realistic: don't plan an elaborate first date but instead work toward having a cordial, brief conversation. You should take advantage of your trial membership period by responding to any of the email messages or "flirts" you receive from others. Everyone has to start somewhere, and it's perfectly okay to be shy at first. Let's say that you are just figuring out how to use the dating site and how to do online dating in general. You are probably initially apprehensive about the prospect of starting to flirt yourself. So, try using honesty as a reasonable policy: respond by saying you've just joined the system and are not sure yet how everything works, so you'll get back to the person later (don't forget that you really should reply later, one way or another). If you see someone who interests you, send him or her a message if the site will allow it during the trial period. Give them up to a week to respond: Remember, don't expect too much to begin with. Your initial goal, in fact, is to determine whether this site has the potential to match you with people you want to date. If you find that someone responds in a friendly way and you have a pleasant email chat, chances are this is a site you will want to stick with. Mail Order Ham--Choosing a Ham Online

By Linda Schnable The ham is the traditional centerpiece for Easter, Christmas, holidays, and other special gatherings. Almost any meal is made special with a ham. Many options are available in choosing a mail order ham online in the quest to make the choice your ham centerpiece a success. You can not judge the value of your mail order ham online by the price per pound; you need to look beyond the price for differences in hams that are available. Nutrition labels are a great place to start your comparisons of the ham. The nutrifacts gives information about the calories, fat, cholesterol, protein, and sodium contents of the ham. Generally, nutrifacts for ham are healthy since ham is a relatively lean cut of meat before anything is added. When comparing hams, be certain that you note the serving size that has been used to establish the nutritional statistics of the ham. Although nutrition information is very similar from one ham manufacturer to another, there are several factors that will present distinguishable differences in hams. These factors may represent differences in flavor and texture profile from one brand of ham to another. These factors are bone-in ham versus boneless, slow curing of ham versus efficient curing, water levels added to the ham, different methods of smoking the ham, cooking duration, and, of course, the ingredients included the cure or marinade of the ham. Bone-in hams provide 2-3 servings per pound and tend to highlight the added ingredients. The natural fats of the ham help to enhance the ingredients that are added to the cure (marinade). Although you may want to trim the fat away when consuming the ham, cooking the ham with its natural fat will bring out the unique differences in many spices and sweeteners used to make the ham. Boneless hams provide 4-5 servings per pound. Boneless hams usually have all visible fats removed when preparing the ham for smoking and cooking. Boneless hams are extremely simple, however if you do not mind trimming away a little fat, you will probably enjoy the flavor profile of the bone-in ham more than the boneless ham. If carving is a concern, try a pre-sliced spiral sliced ham with the bone-in. Another factor that presents definitive differences in hams from one brand to another is the method of curing the ham. Ham is made with a flavorful cure, a marinade of water and brine that gives the ham its typical taste and appearance. Technology advancements have helped the ham curing process (adding ingredients through moisture enhancements) to become a much more efficient process than the early days of ham processing. Equipment has helped the process of getting the ingredients into the ham quickly to get the ham to the store quicker. Although the efficiency factor helps reduce the costs of production of some hams, it is not always effective in maximizing the flavor enhancement factor. Whether using new technology or traditional methods, slowing the curing process will bring out the unique differences from the added ingredients. Getting the ingredients into the meat is only half of the process, giving them a chance to work before cooking is the second half. Water is the medium in which ham makers use to get different ingredients into the meat. Over the years, some ham makers have improved their methods to get more and more moisture into the meat. Labels will read ham, ham with natural juices, water-added ham, and ham with X% added water. Obviously, ham and ham with natural juices will have the least amount of water diluting the natural taste of ham and its added spices. Adding more and more water will help drive down the cost of the ham, but generally does little to enhance the flavor and texture of the ham itself. The method of smoking the ham will be yet another factor that creates differences from one brand of ham to another. The traditional method of smoking ham was to use specially selected logs of hard woods that would enhance the sweeteners and spices that the ham maker chose. Soon, processors found that their ham tasted better with hickory wood, applewood, or even dried corn cobs. One of the newest technologies is a processed natural smoke that is converted to a liquid form and is applied to the hams during the cooking process. This process has helped to shorten the processing cycle of the ham. Many specialty processors still choose to stay with the natural wood of their choice to enhance the special blend of spices that gives their ham its unique flavor properties. Much like the lengthened curing process of the ham, many ham processors feel that slow cooking ham at a lower temperature maintains the natural meat texture and cooks the spice flavors into the ham. Again, technology has been introduced to shorten the cooking cycles and reach the safe internal temperatures quicker. Some argue that the quick process changes the ham texture too much, and doe not allow the flavors of the ham and ingredients to blend during the cooking process. Probably the one area that each ham maker will argue that his is the best is in the ingredients he chooses for the cure or marinade of the ham. Each cure has one or two prominent ingredients that help to give unique taste and aroma properties to a ham. Maple syrup, honey, and brown sugar are three primary ingredients that specialty ham processors may choose to build their cure recipe. In addition to the base ingredient, many other spices may be added to further enhance a unique recipe preference to cure a ham. As you can see, a good centerpiece holiday ham for your Easter, Christmas, or special celebration meal goes well beyond the price per pound or an attractive package. There are many ways to make a ham less expensive, but like any good recipe, if you short cut the cycle and ingredients it may not taste as good and bring pleasure to you and your guests that you may expect. Choose your ham wisely, and enjoy one of the best tasting meal traditions. You must insist on quality and the distinctive, elusive, one-of-a-kind flavor in your ham that can never be mass-produced by machinery or rushed through the curing and smoking process. Whether you need a holiday ham, or are buying a ham online just because you love the flavor, the very best maple syrup brine cured, cob and applewood smoked hams, made in the New England tradition in one of the few smokehouses left that controls quality from beginning to endcome from

Limited Power of Attorney

By Kent Pinkerton Through a limited Power of Attorney, the principal can authorize another person, i.e. agent, to carry out specified tasks on his or her behalf for limited time duration or only under certain circumstances. The Power of Attorney is therefore limited or tailored to meet the needs of a particular transaction or set of transactions (i.e., the purchase of the real estate in Los Angeles, known as 123 Oak Street) and comprehensively details the expiration date and full extent of the power. Most people choose a limited Power of Attorney because with this form, the principal can give someone the power to manage his or her finances or property and yet rest easy knowing his or her assets are protected. A limited Power of Attorney usually reads: My named attorney-in-fact [or agent] shall have full power and authority to undertake, commit and perform only the following acts on my behalf to the same extent as if I had done so personally; all with full power of substitution and revocation in the presence. Describe the specific authority below: The specific authority could be property transactions, banking, specified business operations, access to safe deposit boxes, litigation, etc. Without this restriction, sometimes rigid banks, financial institutions or others to whom it is presented might not accept the Power of Attorney. Thus, if the principal plans to use a stand-in for a financial, real estate or business transaction, he or she must ensure in advance that the other parties have approved the Power of Attorney in question. Unless revoked, a limited Power of Attorney usually ends at a specified time, unless the principal becomes incapacitated or passes away. Power Of Attorney provides detailed information about power of attorney, power of attorney forms, medical power of attorney, limited power of attorney and more. Set Yourself Up to Win

By Dan Patterson Its funny how we all will start a new workout or weight loss program with a lot of excitement and high expectations, but then after about a month or so a lot of people will be back to their same old routine. So what happened? Where did they lose the motivation? There isnt a universal answer to that question, but you have to find a way to keep yourself going. Here are a couple of ideas: - Take a before picture and look at it constantly. Probably first made famous from the Body-for-LIFE program. The whole point of doing this is to motivate yourself to change the way you are. Keep reminding yourself that you dont want to stay this way and that youll do what ever it takes to change. - Have pictures of role models. This helps you to keep your goal in mind. Go find a picture of someone that has your same body type and has a body that you think you could believably achieve and look at it constantly as well. In other words, if youre an endomorph, dont find pictures of an ectomorph as this may be unrealistic. - Watch the health news. This one may sound a little weird, but its a really good idea to become conscious of why you might need to make some changes. If you keep yourself up to date on the growing concerns out there associated with obesity and take a I wont be part of the problem attitude, it can really be motivating. - Have a support group. Its very important to take note of who you hang out with or who is in your social circle. Make sure that you are around people that support what youre doing. Eventually you might get to the point where you honestly dont care what others think and you really are just doing it for yourself, but at the beginning your motivation is very fragile. Protect it and be careful who you share it with. While this is not an all-encompassing list, I hope that it will at least help you to maintain a high level of motivation for a longer period of time. A lot of what you will achieve in your goals will be determined by your attitude towards what youre doing. If you have the right attitude, you will achieve more. Too many good plans have been destroyed because of a bad attitude and lack of motivation. Dont let your new goals become another unfinished project. About the Author:

Do More of What You Want: Making Time Work for You

By Allison Shields One of the biggest challenges lawyers face is the challenge of trying to get it all done and still have time to do the things they want to do. Theyre overwhelmed by the demands of their practice and juggling family, personal and work time. Theres really no such thing as time management
Time management is a misnomer. You have no control over time. Everyone is given the same amount of time every day, every week and every year. Whether you like it or not, youre stuck with only 24 hours every day. Rather than thinking about managing your time, think about managing your activities. Often, the problem is that lawyers are afraid to plan their activities within the amount of time available to them. Many lawyers think that their practice doesnt lend itself to planning because they want to be responsive to clients needs as they arise. The two do not have to be mutually exclusive. Unfortunately, having no plan at all usually means that the little, often least valuable or least important things eat up all of the available time, and important tasks never get done. Sometimes, its marketing, organizing your practice or your office, or following up on collections that gets neglected. Most often, its the family and personal time that suffers. Lawyers become victims of burnout, which leads to more profound personal problems and ultimately, health problems, in addition to business and professional troubles. How can you manage your activities to create time for high value business and personal activities?
Theres no one right way to do this that will work for everyone. And there is no one right tool, whether you use case management programs, electronic databases, personal handheld organizers, desk calendars or paper planners. But regardless of which method you choose to manage your activities and appointments, the steps are similar. First, divide your activities/tasks into categories
Julie Morgenstern, author of Time Management from the Inside Out and other books, likens organizing your activities to organizing your closet. She begins by sorting putting like items together. For example, you might sort activities into categories such as: errands (post office, dry cleaner, banking), closing files, entering contact information into your database, planning, filing, family activities, writing, blogging, etc. The categories are extremely individual and may depend on your practice area and other obligations; these categories are just suggestions. Break up your to do list.
Looking at the entire list of everything that needs to get done, from errands to client projects to marketing and administrative tasks can be overwhelming. And overwhelm leads to paralysis. By categorizing the tasks that need to be completed and keeping separate lists or folders for each category, your list will be easier to tackle. Another advantage is that performing like tasks together makes them easier to accomplish. Handling a number of telephone calls or emails at once is usually more efficient than handling them piecemeal. Writing several letters about the same topic (i.e. follow up to clients for documents or information youre waiting for or letters to clients about payment) or closing a number of files at once will make each individual task go faster. Prioritize the items on your list
Which activities bring the highest return? Which are the most important to you or to your clients? Which activities are the oldest (sometimes getting those old dogs off of your plate makes a lot more room physically and emotionally for you to get other things done)? Those are your priority activities. Some strategies for determining the priority of tasks include asking why youre doing that task in the first place, and ensuring that the task has a legitimate purpose and focusing on the outcome or anticipated result, rather than the task itself. You probably have tasks on your list that are priorities that you avoid because you dont like to do them. Sometimes those tasks can be delegated and sometimes they cant (see below). When they cant, focus on the result, rather than on the task itself. If youre avoiding a job, chore, etc., focus on the outcome what will it feel like when this is done? What will be the result emotionally, productively, financially, or organizationally? If the task has an important purpose and a high value result, make it a priority. Eliminate unnecessary tasks
Which activities can you get off of your list? Get rid of anything that you dont have to do. Some tasks can be eliminated entirely. Others can be delegated. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses can help you to determine what you should delegate. Anything that you avoid doing, hate doing or just dont do well is a potential candidate for delegation. If someone else can do it better, faster, more consistently, delegate it. Delegate it if someone else will get it done well enough (as opposed to keeping it on your to do list where it never gets done). See my article, Too Much to Do, Too Little Time? Why Your Dont Do List May be More Important Than Your To Do List for more on eliminating tasks from your list. Determine the amount of time each activity will take to accomplish and schedule it
Dont be stingy with your estimate; estimating too little time will add stress and confusion to your schedule. Decide when you will perform that activity and physically schedule it on your calendar Make sure you leave some empty space or downtime on your calendar, in addition to the personal and family time that you schedule. Scheduling tasks can be done by scheduling a specific time for a particular task (i.e. I will call this client at 3 p.m. on Tuesday or I will draft the contract at 10 a.m. on the 27th) or by using a method known as time blocking. Time blocking can be as simple as putting like activities together, which is why the first step of categorization is so important. Often, when youre doing one task for one client, its that much easier to do the same activity for another client. For example, you can time block by saying that Thursday afternoons will be reserved for errands, or the last Friday of every month will be used for closing files, or you will focus on business development every Monday. At the same time, recognize that the schedule is not entirely set in stone. As a lawyer, it is likely that there will be last minute emergencies, unforeseen circumstances or client crises that must be addressed. Thats further evidence that what doesnt get scheduled and isnt urgent, isnt likely to get done. More often than not, you probably react to whatever is in front of you, rather than determining in advance what you want to accomplish. If scheduling time on your calendar for important tasks allows you to complete them even half of the time, its probably a lot more than youre doing right now. The advantage to setting specific times to accomplish important tasks is that as soon as the crisis or emergency has passed, you can return to your schedule without missing a beat. Leaving your schedule to chance is much more likely to deteriorate. Scheduling or time blocking gives you a purpose or plan for every day. One of the reasons many lawyers get discouraged and feel overwhelmed is that they keep one long to do list and theres no way that theyll be able to accomplish all of the tasks on the list. They continue to carry the same things on their to do list day after day. Theres no sense of accomplishment, because they see the same tasks carried from one day to the next, over and over. By using the method outlined above and making appointments with yourself, whether at specific times or in blocks of hours or days, you will be able to see when youre about to overload a specific day or week and make adjustments ahead of time. If you see that one day is already booked, youll know you need to put the new task on another day, or reschedule an existing appointment. Some final tips: Minimize interruptions or unplanned activities
Just because the phone rings doesnt mean you have to answer it, and you dont need to answer every email as it arrives. Often, we waste time addressing issues or interrupting the flow of our work by being distracted by an unrelated (and often unimportant) email or telephone call. Frequently answering the email or phone call takes longer when were in the middle of something else. The same goes for interruptions from colleagues or employees; if it isnt a crisis, ask them to come back at a specific time when you can focus on their issue. Dont multitask
Our society has become one in which multitasking is seen as a good practice. In fact, studies have shown that (with few exceptions) the more you multitask, the less attention and focus youre devoting to any of the tasks youre trying to accomplish. Chances are that youre performing any of those tasks well. Focusing on one thing at a time ensures more efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction. Reward yourself
There is no such thing as being done; there will always be more work to do. Its easy to focus on what hasnt been done yet, and what still needs to be done, or what should have been done. Focus instead on what youve accomplished and how far youve come. Celebrate when you accomplish something or stick to your schedule and forgive yourself when you lose track. Get back to the schedule and move on. Repurpose
Everything you do should be able to be used more than once. Keep track of the legal arguments, motions, documents, letters, procedures, articles, etc. Almost everything in your practice can be used over again, either by you or by someone else in the office. If you can use the same product over again with minimal modifications, youll free up more time, rather than constantly reinventing the wheel. Take breaks and incorporate personal time
No breaks and no time for yourself = burnout. Need I say more? Set deadlines
A goal isnt worth much unless theres a deadline. The same is true for a task. Thats why scheduling the task for a specific time on your calendar makes it more likely that youll complete it. For more information about setting deadlines, see the December 2006 newsletter for the feature article, The Productivity Secret: How to Complete the Tasks Youve Been Avoiding. Get a buddy/accountability system
Your buddy may be your spouse, your assistant, your best friend, another lawyer in your office, or a coach or consultant. Find someone with whom to share your goals and intentions and to keep you on track, to help you stick to your schedule and identify which tasks are priorities and which can be delegated. When you tell someone else what youre going to do, the peer pressure can be a big motivator. Create some way to keep yourself accountable. Dont get overwhelmed with all you have to do, and dont overwhelm yourself with a never-ending to-do list. Categorize, break tasks down into smaller chunks or parts, prioritize, eliminate or delegate what you can and schedule the just the first step of what remains, rather than the entire project. You may be surprised at how much you can accomplish and still have time to spend with your loved ones (or on the golf course!) (c) 2006-2007 Allison C. Shields and Legal Ease Consulting, Inc. The Art Of Flattery - Using Flattery To Become More Attractive

By Christine Akiteng Many people completely hate the word "flattery" and to even say there is an art to this makes them shudder with total disgust. In a culture where everything is either right or wrong with very little room for the grays in between, I can understand why the word flattery rubs people the wrong way. I can also understand why many are sickened to the stomach because flattery is often associated with compromising ones values and integrity. But is flattery always a bad thing? And does flattery always have to be insincere? Does flattery make you more attractive and should you use the art of flattery on the men/women you find attractive? Personally I find that mild flattery does often move things along more pleasantly than outright candidness. While excessive insincere praises intended to put the other person into the position of owing something to the flatterer is cheap and cheesy (and often reveals emotionally "needy" personality out for approval), a little flattery does help to quickly warm up first meetings or bridge relationship gaps. For example starting off your conversation with a statement like You look gorgeous is surely better than starting with You forgot to put on your make-up today. By offering positive reinforcement, you are not only making the person feel good about herself but you are taking the small extra effort to actually show the person that you care about how she feels. She may come back with I dont have my make-up on to which you can respond with You still look good. But when you say I couldnt even tell you did not have make-up on or You look like you have make-up on, youve crossed over to the excessive insincere praise. In terms of bridging relationship gaps, a little flattery goes a long, long way. Say you are the hottest woman in your workplace or even at a party, taking the time to shake hands with the office boy or cleaner, or saying hi to the geeky-looking guy standing all by himself not only makes their day (they will be talking about it for days) but moves them away from feeling like a nobody in the eyes of society to somebody to those present (and to himself). Just by a simple gesture you show the person that you care about how they feel. Did I mention youll be ever so hotter! Having said that, I do not advocate using flattery to manipulate anothers self-doubt or use their feelings of inferiority against them. Using flattery for personal gain has its own come back to bite your ass consequences. You cant get round using flattery to always get what you want without starting to feel empty, phony, lonely and depressed. You can never genuinely and deeply connect with others if you are manipulating their feelings. Also keep in mind that flattery works for about 95 percent of people. Recognizing situations where flattery is appropriate is the secret of the art of flattery! New Spa Treatments You Can Make In The Comfort Of Your Home

By Louise Forrest Women from all over the globe love the way their skin feels after a visit to the spa. These organic skin care recipes are all used for specialties treatments at some of the world's top natural care spas. Remember to always purchase organic ingredients for our skin care recipes. Non-organic ingredients contain chemical fertilizers and pesticides which you do not want absorbed into your body through the skin. Organic Body Butter #1 Aside from the skin care recipe ingredients, you will need a blanket and towels for application, a small pillow can be nice, and a food processor is very handy for making the butter. Hand-held mixers cannot handle the density of this skin care formula, but you can use a potato masher or your hands (it just will not be as smooth ad with a food processor). You will need: 1 organic avocado, scoop ripe flesh into a bowl
1 organic banana
1 stick organic sweet butter, softened
1/3 teaspoon lavender essential oil (usually found in health food stores or on the internet)
1/4 cup organic whipping cream Thoroughly steam bathroom with you in it (this gets your skin ready and opens pores). While bathroom is steaming, you can lay the blanket (old) on the floor and lay the towels over it. If you chose to use a small pillow, place it at one end and cover with a towel. Once you begin to perspire, you can turn water off and begin massaging the organic body butter all over the body, including the face (stay away from eyes and open wounds). Pat special attention to dry areas like feet, hands, knees, and elbows. Lie on towels and wrap blanket around you. Take a 15 to 20 minute nap this way, allowing the organic body butter to infuse your skin with essential moisture. Rinse in a warm shower using (preferably) an organic soap and soft cloth to lightly cleanse the butter. Organic Body Butter #2 You probably already have most, if not all, of the ingredients for this decadent organic body butter. Try mixing a double batch of this skin treatment and make a romantic interlude for you and your significant other! Mix the following ingredients: 1 teaspoon organic coconut oil
2 teaspoons organic clover honey
3 tablespoons organic peanut butter (crunchy)
1 1/2 tablespoons organic brown sugar
2 tablespoon distilled water Use in the bathtub, because this can get messy! Massage the organic body butter over your body, starting at the furthest points and working your way to the center of your body. After thoroughly massaging, cleanse the butter away with a mild organic cleanser. Apply an organic milk lotion or organic moisturizing cream to complete your treatment. Extra Special Treatment for Hands and Feet For this treatment, you will need 6 bars of paraffin wax, 4 old towels, and 2 tablespoons organic olive oil (1 tablespoon for hands and 1 tablespoon for feet). Melt the paraffin in a large, deep microwave safe container that is long enough to set your foot in. You want the wax to be melted and warm, but not hot. Take one tablespoon of organic olive oil and massage into freshly cleaned feet. Dip oil covered feet into the paraffin wax one foot at a time and dipping three times to create three layers of wax (allowing the wax to dry on the foot between dips). Wrap the feet (with the wax still on them) in old towels. Repeat treatment on hands. Once you have your hands wrapped, prop your feet up and rest for 20 minutes then peel wax off and massage again. Clinical Negligence Solicitor For A Botched Surgery

By Mumtaz Shah Statistics do seem to indicate there is an upward trend is wrongful cosmetic surgery treatments; so, would you have a claim for clinical negligence following a bad cosmetic surgery experience? It is hard to imagine that there can be a worse feeling you go into have cosmetic surgery treatment to improve your features and hopefully boost your self-esteem and when you finish, you find that something has gone horribly wrong and you have been disfigured for life! Establishing A Claim In order for a clinical negligence solicitor to establish that you have a medical negligence claim, the solicitor needs to show that a duty of care situation existed between you and the surgeon and that the surgeon was negligent in this. Fortunately or unfortunately, however you wish to look at this, prior to 1 April 2002 there was no method of ensuring that the private cosmetic surgeon who treated you had any specialist cosmetic surgery training. Indeed, even if they are still practicing today, if they started practising cosmetic surgery prior 1 April 2002, there would still be no requirement that they had received specialist cosmetic training. For this reason, having established that a duty of care relationship existed, it should be much easier for your solicitor to show that the surgeon acted negligently than would otherwise be the case in a more mainstream medical negligence claim. Alternative means of establishing a claim for clinical negligence compensation include: Informed Consent Nearly all cases involving cosmetic surgery negligence claims centre on the issue of whether or not you had the appropriate informed consent prior to the procedure. Basically, 'informed consent' means that the surgeon or doctor treating you is required to inform you of: the potential benefits of the cosmetic treatment you are about to have, something most cosmetic surgeons are very happy to talk about; the potential risks that are associated with the cosmetic surgery procedure you are going to undertake, something most cosmetic surgeons talk about reluctantly; and what the alternatives are to the treatment you are about to receive, something cosmetic surgeons sometimes fail to inform their patients! Without your informed consent to the cosmetic surgery, it is possible for your clinical negligence solicitor to establish that a clinical negligence claim exists and to ask for clinical negligence compensation. Injury Compensation Besides lack of informed consent, a clinical negligent solicitor can also establish a case for clinical negligence in the event that you suffer any disfigurement or scaring following the procedure, or if the treatment results in you have some other form of disfigurement such as damaged nerve-ends, damaged internal organs, abrasion, etc. Dental Surgery In addition to the more common claim of negligent treatment in cosmetic surgery, if you have recently received any cosmetic dental treatment that did not produce the results you were lead to believe would be the case by the advertising you read, or if the cosmetic dental surgery procedure was painful, or left you in any way disfigured, you may well have the right to claim for dental negligence compensation so make sure you check this out with your solicitor. What Should You Do If You Think You Have A Claim? If you believe you have a clinical negligence claim following cosmetic surgery, you should see a specialist in clinical negligence as soon as you can. Keep in mind that only a very small fraction of medical negligence claims involving cosmetic surgery procedures are allowed to apply for public funding (such as Legal Aid) to help pay the costs of a claim. As such, if you cannot afford a specialist clinical negligence solicitor, then you should try and see a compensation solicitor on a no win no fee claim basis as court cases involving clinical negligence centred around cosmetic surgery practices can be time consuming and costly. It's easy to proceed with a clinical negligence claim and gain maximum results without the hassle, costs and confusion. TV News: Turn It Off And Get A Better Picture Of The World

By Katherine Westphal Television news programs are just about the worst way to get news for two important reasons. 1) Television itself inhibits the functioning of left brain rational analysis.
2) The television media has become centralized into a few huge media conglomerates. Most people are aware of the consolidation of the media industry. However, people are only dimly aware of TV's inhibition of left brain functioning. Try this experiment. Right now. Critically review three of the news stories you watched on TV last night. Ready. Set. Go! So, only a few perspectives are presented on the TV news, and when viewers like yourself watch this news, they are inhibited from logically analyzing the stories. That is terrible news for democracy. Democracy needs informed citizens that can analyze and discuss different views of a situation. I use a few simple guidelines to get a picture of what is going on in the world. These do require a little more effort than parking in front of a TV set and mindlessly absorbing the images, but not too much more. Reading is more efficient The first step is to start reading, instead of watching, your news. Television generally takes a lot of time to get across a little bit of information. With reading you can absorb information much faster. A five minute story on the news can be read online or in the newspaper generally in less than a minute. The spare time can be used to analyze the story. Get several quality news sources The next step in developing a good picture of the world is to get several good news sources. Begin with a mainstream newspaper or website to simply get an idea of the basic issues that are at stake. Then, select a couple of alternative news sources outside the mainstream. I am not going to recommend a particular source, because I do not wish to become engaged in liberal/conservative partisan discussions. These distinctions start to fall away once you start to analyze the news for yourself anyway. Analyze the information The next step is simply to start critically viewing the material that you read. Does it make logical sense? Are there inconsistencies? Does the story change from one day to the next? Are there any patterns to events? Finally, the most important question to ask for any given situation is: who benefits? Rarely do events happen by chance in the world and asking that one, little question can lead to much greater understanding of any situation. Put that left brain into hyper-drive. Find original sources and witnesses If there are inconsistencies or notable patterns, it is time to start researching. Whenever possible it is best to go to the source of an issue. For example, if the government passes a new law about security, dont waste time watching or reading the petty analyses of pundits. Find a copy of the law! Do not rely on someone else to give an interpretation. The internet makes it much easier to find source documents. The recent Terri Schiavo case demonstrates the need for going to source documents. There are medical documents that are copied at www.hospicepatients.org, and court document links can be found at AbstractAppeal.com. Viewers who relied solely on the TV news may feel differently about this case once they peruse these documents. Also--whenever possible--find witnesses to an event. First person accounts can give a far more accurate and moving picture than one that is filtered through the mainstream media. These accounts must be critically analyzed, of course. Diveaid.co.uk has several gripping accounts of the tsunami last year by some dive instructors who survived. Put the news into context Finally, it is essential to put the information into contextpolitical, historical, social, and even geographical. If necessary, do some research. This step may take the most effort, but it is also the most rewarding. For example, in 1990 anyone who had a basic knowledge of the history of Yugoslavia knew that it was a virtual powder keg, just waiting for a psychopath to come and light it. That is exactly what happened with Mr. Milosevic and the subsequent wars in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo. Respond to the world with new-found confidence Follow these general guidelines and, not only will you become better informed about world events and situations, you will also become a better citizen: better prepared and ready to act with confidence in the political arena. TV Turn-off Week (April 25-May 1) is a great opportunity to test these principles. If you are going to be one of the millions of families who turn off their TV's that week, try using these principles to get your news for that one week. Then see if you feel better informed on May 1. Recycling Facts

By Arabella Greatorex These make quite alarming reading - if we want to have any kind of planet to pass on to our children and grandchildren, perhaps we need to be a little more aware of our actions. No one has to save the planet single-handedly but if we each took a few small steps, we can achieve great things together. We get through nearly 3 billion disposable nappies each year in the UK alone and around 90% of these end up on landfill sites. Disposable nappies take 500 years to decompose. The disposal of nappies costs Bristol City Council around 500,000 per year. Over 20,000 tonnes of batteries are sent to landfill site in the UK each year. It takes 50 times more energy to make a battery than it gives during its life. Each day, we produce enough rubbish to fill Trafalgar Square to the height of Nelson's Column. Each year, one person gets through 90 drink cans, 70 food cans, 107 bottles and jars and 45kg of plastic. 55 million 2-litre plastic bottles are thrown away in Bristol each year. The UK uses about 12 billion cans each year - that's enough to stretch to the moon and back! On average each person in England and Wales produces nearly 500kg of household waste a year. In Bristol last year, 10 thousand tonnes of paper were collected and recycled. 7 million trees are cut down every year just to make disposable nappies. The average British family throws away 6 trees worth of paper in their household bin a year. Every tonne of paper recycled saves 17 trees. 25% of household waste is packaging and we throw 36 million worth of aluminium into landfill sites. Last year in Bristol, nearly 4.5 thousand tonnes of glass bottles and jars were collected and recycled. Five out of six glass bottles are thrown away. Career Advice: It's Wise to Put Off Big Decisions

By Ramon Greenwood One of the deeply rooted myths about how managers achieve success is that they
are single-minded and quick in their decision-making. The literature of
management has created a macho image about making tough decisions fast. This is not a true picture of successful managers. They know it is wise to put off the
big decisions as long as possible. The experienced manager knows there is a price, some degree of irrevocability
attached to any decision. Therefore, he will develop as many options as possible for
the truly important questions to be resolved and hold off making critical decisions
as long as possible. That enables him to move with a shifting environment of facts,
pressures and opportunity. It also prepares the way for responding to the critics
and second-guessers by saying, "Yes, we considered all of the options as long as we
could." Most of us heard at Mother's knee, "Never put off until tomorrow what you can do
today." The most successful decision makers frequently break that rule. When he was vice president of the United States, Aaron Burr flew in the face of the
Puritan admonition when he advised: "Never do today what can put off 'til
tomorrow. Delay may give clearer light as to what is best to be done." Some 100 years later, President Calvin Coolidge declared: "Four-fifths of all our
troubles in this life would disappear if we would only sit down and keep still." TIME SOLVES MANY PROBLEMS Mangers will find that with time all problems do not require answers. The simple
passage of time will solve many problems. They may simply pass away or answer
themselves. Furthermore, good answers are not always immediately available. We can all learn from the parable about two men sentenced to die by the king.
Upon learning of their fate, one man became terrified, but the other remained calm.
The calm one said, "Your Majesty, if you will let us live, I will teach your horse to fly." The King considered the proposition for a moment and replied, "You have one year
to teach my horse to fly. If you succeed, your lives will be spared; but if not, you
will be executed." After the two condemned men left the presence of the king, the terrified one
demanded of his companion, "Why did you do that? You cannot teach a horse to fly.
You have only prolonged the inevitable. Now we have a whole year to dread our
deaths." "Well," replied the calm one, "four things can happen in one year. The horse could
die. The King could change his mind. He could die. Or the horse just might learn to
fly." The wise careerist will recognize that he must use common sense when applying
positive procrastination. It is like salt. A little brings the cooking to its best; too
much spoils it all. Procrastination must never be used as an excuse for action. Common sense says that procrastination in decision making can be a very valuable
management tool, provided it is conscious and controlled. XXX Greenwood is a former Senior Vice President of American Express. For information

Are Your Career Strategies Working For You?

By Don Monteith You may be a recent college graduate - or just out of high school
wondering what's next in your career search or worried about
making the "right" decision when a job offer comes. All of us have
been there so don't be over anxious, it'll all come together. Most of us have more than one job during the course of our working
career - maybe 5 or 6 career paths before we reach retirement in
this fast paced, changing marketplace. One day you'll LOOK BACK and wonder how it all came to be... your
beautiful family, nice BIG house, new Lexus in the driveway, a new
pick-up truck for leisure and pulling the inboard cruiser to the lake.
Hit the big-time and live anywhere your heart desires. Few of us will ever wish we'd gone to MORE meetings - attended more
political dinners - worked longer hours. When you see the guy or gal
with a long history of director; President; Chairman; etc. of numerous
local charities; Chambers of Commerce; the United Way.... there is
a message within to be discovered. Nothing beats discovering your DREAM job and spending a lifetime
doing FUN stuff, it's like being paid for something you'd gladly do
for free. Find a hobby that you can turn into earning your livelihood
or money machine. Now, that's like winning the Publisher's Clearing
House lottery in my book. Everyone tells YOU... keep your JOB and be happy. Don't give up a
good thing. However, that's someone elses opinion... NOT yours and
it's YOU with the decision making challenge and power.... move on if
this is not your DREAM JOB. It's your God given RIGHT to follow YOUR dreams.... where YOUR passion
lies and pulls at your heart strings. Don't let anyone else make the
decision for you.... it yours to make and live with. WHAT DO YOU SEE? Feel? Look around you today.... is your BOSS someone who is supportive and
an encourager where you are? Is he/she a lousy supervisor? Is the
equipment GOOD? - location GOOD? - co-workers GREAT? May as well bring
up the daily commute to work... how much drive time? MY POINT IS.... ....don't waste YOUR time and energy in the wrong place. There's good
value in VISUALIZING.... "picturing" your dream job. Spend your 'break'
time on "seeing" your future in the 'right' place. It can be another
job or in your own business if you're an entrepreneur personality, just
know that NOT everyone wants their own business. Most business owners put in 60 to 100 hours a week... to make about
the same money they'd earn in 40 hours working for someone else. The
point is... if it's NOT your passion.... don't do it for the money but
because you LOVE what you do.... then the money will come later. There's a sadness about the person who works ALL DAY at a JOB to earn
a paycheck.... then goes home to their hobby every night. Your goal in
the future is to make your hobby into a PROFIT center to replace your
weekly paycheck. HERE'S THE KEY.... THINK!! That's #1 in your search to discover your passion. What CAN you
do? Forget your past work history UNLESS it is connected to something
you can turn into a profit center for yourself. What's missing? Do folks
tell you how good you are at [something?]. Listen to the message. IS FEAR HOLDING YOU BACK? Yes, 'fear' is very real and causes most of us to STAY-PUT in a JOB that's
driving us to tears.... but we're locked by 'fear' of failure - or what
others may say or think. Most business owners have failed 2 or 3 times
before arriving... they keep trying... NEVER giving UP. Don Monteith spent 32 years as co-owner of several franchises and a personnel/staffing business. Every year, his firm placed hundreds of job candidates in their dream job. Today, Don shares his business and career expertise through his newest websites on the Internet. Overcoming the 7 Roadblocks Women with Families Face Making Career Changes

By Monique Houde Family is the driving force of our lives. You need family to support you and in most homes you need money to support your family. You work to support your family but you usually end up spending little time with them because of your 9-5 job. According to a Gallop poll 70% of Americans hate their jobs. Life is funny sometimes. Its so easy to find yourself in a job you dont love, in a career that doesnt drive you or longing for passion in our work. Sometimes we find ourselves there after even a long road of education in a field we were certain was the right choice for us. The good thing about life is that it is forever changing; sometimes due to circumstances and sometimes due to personal choices. I would argue that we have many more personal choices that we think we do. For every reason someone gives me that they cant make a change, I can give them two reasons they need to. There are certainly roadblocks that can seem to disable our dreams but I believe with the right beliefs, motivation, accountability and resources, all things are possible. Lets look at overcoming some of the most common obstacles women face making career changes that will allow them more time with their family. 1. Finding the right career that fuels your passion. How great would it be to wake up every morning and be excited to work? How about loving what you do so much that you talk about it with everyone you know? We are all born with natural talents and abilities. We use them when we are young and believe it or not we still use them every day. Its all about tuning in to yourself and recognizing what makes you tick. Tuning in means paying very close attention to the things you do in your regular routine that bring you great pleasure. What could you do for hours on end and never realize how much time has passed. What are the things you do every day that get your juices flowing. What feeeeeels good and motivates you to do more? And equally it is wise to look at the things in your life that you dont enjoy. What makes you cringe? What do you put off til the last minute? You know what Im talking about! We all have those things and they are best not to be the things that take up the majority of our time. Take this first step and start tuning in. 2. Making the kind of money that will pay the bills and more. There are several jobs that pay a lot of money but it is up to you to define a lot of money. You may need to look at the bigger picture. How much is it worth to you to be able to not commute an hour to work? Not only will you save on gas and wear and tear on your car, but also you will be saving precious time with your family. You can put a dollar amount on some things but not all. Now to determine what careers will bring you the amount of money that you have defined as enough or a lot. Do some research. After you have gone through the exercise detailed above, you will be able to see what careers entail the things you enjoy the most. The Internet is a beautiful tool where you can see the salary ranges for different careers (http://content.salary.monster.com/?WT_srch=1&WT.mc_n=01;CRC;GOO). Maybe you want to branch out on your own. Having a life coach can significantly help you in figuring out what works best for you given your skills and what resources you will need to achieve your goals. 3. Keeping health insurance. There is a certain security to working for a company, paying a set amount of money every paycheck and not worrying about health insurance. There are several plans available to entrepreneurs and women in business that offer customized plans for your specific family needs. Check online for small business health insurance and check out the options. There are several plans that can meet your needs and when you are making the money you want this will not be an issue and until then you can always take advantage of a cobra plan where you pay the group rate for insurance for a period of time until you find the right plan for you. 4. Sticking to your goals and staying motivated. This is a tricky one. There are several steps to creating your goals and then a different set of tools to help you stick to them. You may have more than one goal. Your first goal may be to spend more time with your family. You can begin doing this way before you determine what career you would like to move into. Another goal may be to leave your current job by a certain time. Yet another may be to make a certain amount of money in your first year. Breaking down your goals into categories will help you to stick to them more easily. Family goals, career goals and money goals are a few good ones to start with. You can expand your list as you see success with these first three. Dont get discouraged, many people try out goals and revise them several times before accomplishing them. Just remember they are yours make them attainable and fun! As far as staying motivated it is hugely important to be extremely specific as to why you really want to accomplish the goal. I want to spend more time with my kidsgoodbut why? What about that is important to you or your family? I want to make $100Kgoodbut why? What will it make you feel when you accomplish that? Make sure you have a partner that can help keep you accountable. 5. Identifying resources needed. There are so many resources out there for you to draw from when making transitions such as this. There are internal resources; talents you have, people you know, places you have worked for, the list is endless. Tap into those when looking at making any change. What do I have at my fingertips that can help me accomplish what Im setting out to do? Write these down! These are the skills I have, these are the friends family and co-workers that can help me, these are the places I have come in contact with that have things I may need to use. There are also external resources. Places that you have yet to tap into; the Internet; newspapers; people, again, the list is unlimited. This is where the work comes in. Identifying what is out there that will help you with your task at hand. Make it fun. Several people I have worked with have realized that it is very useful to have another person to brainstorm with. 6. Timing the transition. This is a very flexible thing. It may change as you accomplish certain aspects of your goals. You might feel the need to have all of your eggs aligned to feel comfortable making your move. Your family needs may change and it will be good to stay flexible here. Part of your goals will be attaching a timeline to certain things and when those things are accomplished you can then move on to the next phase of that goal or a whole new goal. Be patient with yourself and ask others to have patience with you too. As long as you are making progress and achieving successes you are headed in the right direction. Trust your gut; you will know when the timing is right. 7. Dealing with nay-sayers. There will always be some skeptic ready to burst your balloon. Someone is bound to tell you that you cant do it, you shouldnt do it, or ask you why you arent just happy with what you have. You and only you know what is best for your family and your familys needs. Trust yourself. If you are waking up every morning almost in tears at the thought of heading to work, then you need a change. People say things all the time for several different reasons. Some are envious that you have the guts to try something new. Some are miserable themselves and you know the saying! Some simply think they know whats best for you because they have lived longer than you. Some may even have great intentions by warning you about the risks and for that reason you should certainly explore the risks ahead of time so you come from a place of knowledge when the subject is brought up. With that said, go ahead and make choices to enhance your life and take the nay-sayers out to lunch when its all said and done. You will be happy to do it because you will BE happy when you are spending more time with your family while making all the money you need. Traditional Chinese Herbs for Modern Health

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Kah_Joon_Liow] Kah Joon Liow Traditional Chinese herbs are given according to their Qi and Blood energy. Thats right, each herb has a particular energy and when matched with the energy of the person, can restore the persons health. So there are two elements here: energy of the personenergy of the herbs And they are combined on a case-by-case basis according to the requirements of the individual. The practice of Chinese medicine generally revolves around cooling what is hot and warming what is cold. Chinese herbs are instrumental in balancing the energies of a person, and have been proven over the centuries to be both safe and effective. Chinese Herbs and Their Energies The energy effects of Chinese herbs have been observed by skilled Taoist and Buddhist physicians for centuries. By closely examining individual substances, their characteristics were recorded. How its done is pretty amazing. A physician would take a single substance and through Qigong (qi exercises) and meditation, feel the energetic qualities of the substance. In this way, each part of a plant seed, root, leave, bark and each animal shell or insect and their qualities was methodically classified. When giving herbs, three things must be considered: What is the energy of the herb is it warming or cooling? What is the effect of its energy increasing or decreasing? To which organ or part of the body is energy directed? Chinese Herbal Formula By mixing herbs in a balanced combination, Chinese herbal formulas can be used to remedy a variety of conditions. Such formulas are known as patents. Several herbs together have a stronger effect than a single herb. At the same time, formulas provide greater safety because an individual herb with a particularly strong energy, can be offset by other herbs. If youve been to a Chinese herbalist before, youll have seen first hand herbs being prescribed. This is the way Chinese herbal medicine is practiced. Even though acupuncture may be more well-known in the West as a procedure of TCM, herbal medicine can actually treat people quickly and more effectively in some cases. Chinese herbs have strong effects but they are gentle in their action and nourishes both the blood and qi. In China, they are part of the normal diet, as medicinal plants are frequently use in boiling soups and other forms of Chinese cooking. Grapefruit and Its Natural Benefits

By Cindy Ng The grapefruit occupies a high place among the citrus fruits because of its flavor, its appetizing properties and its refreshing qualities. The fruit is often very large. It varies in color and may have a pale yellow or pinkish flesh. The rind is usually quarter to half an inch thick. The grapefruit is indigenous to Indo-China, Thailand and Malaysia. It has spread to other hot countries from these lands. It is now extensively grown in West Indies, Israel, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, USA and India. It is nutritive and refrigerant; and possesses very much the same properties as the orange, lemon and lime. The seedless variety is the best as it often contains greater amount of sugar, calcium and phosphorus. The grapefruit is often used as table salad and is taken together with other fruit and vegetables. It is sometimes cut into half, and the seeds and the hard pith removed from then center. The cavity is then filled with sugar which is also sprinkled over the cut surface. It is left for one hour in a covered plate and then taken. Grapefruit is an excellent appetizer. It promotes salivary and gastric digestion. It is an important health builder and also a tonic. In spite of its often sharp, sub-acid taste, the fresh grapefruit has an alkaline reaction after digestion. The citric acid of the fruit is oxidized in the human system and hence the effect is to increase the alkalinity of the fluids of the body. Its juice is beneficial in the prevention and treatment of acidity and many diseases caused by too much acid in the body system. The fruit is also valuable in relieving constipation. The pulp, when wholly taken, supplies healthy bulk to aid bowel action. It is beneficial in maintaining the health of intestines and is regarded as a preventive food item against dysentery, diarrhea, enteritis, and other infective diseases of the digestive tract. When having influenza, the juice of grapefruit is an excellent remedy as it helps to reduce acidity in the system and its bitter properties arising from a substance called 'maringin', tones up the system and the digestive tract. The juice of grapefruit is also an excellent diet in all fevers. It quenches thirst and removes the burning sensation produced by the fever. It should be taken mixed with water. Grapefruit contains a natural 'quinine' and hence is valuable in the treatment of malaria. This 'quinine' is also beneficial in feverish colds. It can be extracted from the fruits by boiling a quarter of a grapefruit and then straining the pulp. This wonderful fruit could also be used as natural remedies to treat diabetes, fatigue, scanty urination and others. Controlling House Plant Pests

By Briscoe White Aphids, Mealybugs, Scale and Spidermites are the most common house plant pests. If not properly treated, any one of these bugs could cause serious damage, even death, to your plants. Mealybugs: crawling insects that are closely related to scales. As the pinkish bugs mature, they form a white cottony mass. They damage plants by sucking out sap of the underside of the leaves. This may cause leaf distortion, yellowing, stunting and the death of the plant. --best solution is to dip a cotton swab in alcohol and touch it to the colony of pests. These are difficult pests and if the plant is overwhelmed, it may need to be tossed. Aphids: green, red, pink, brown or black soft-bodied insects that infect most garden plants. Aphids are usually about 1/8 long. This sucking insect causes foliage to curl up and become discolored and fall off. --mist the plant with water, regularly, to keep these pests at bay. If the pests are out of hand, an insecticidal soap works best. Scale: oval shaped insects that are found on the undersides of leaves. They are usually yellowish-green, brown or black. Scales insert their mouthparts into the plant and suck sap throughout the summer and fall. Affected plants will yellow and die. -- a 1:1 mix of alcohol and water sprayed on the scale. You may need to rub gently with a cotton ball to remove the scale. These pests are persistent, so make sure that you check regularly. Spider Mites: minute pests found on the undersides of leaves. If not treated promptly, spider mites may spin fine webs which will eventually cover the entire plant. Mites have a speckled appearance. In a dry environment, these insects multiply quickly. --80% of these pests can eliminated by gently washing the plant with water, either misting with a hose or in the kitchen sink. Regular misting is a preventative measure that I highly recommend Then treat with an insecticidal soap. Prevention is the key to maintaining pest-free plants. Be watchful, and be sanitary! Water plants in the morning. Keep plants clean with a regular shower, especially effective with spider mites. Supplies and soil should be sterile. Let fresh air circulate between the plants. Check them often. And, dont immediately resort to chemical warfare at the first sign of trouble. Look for alternatives that are plant derived; these products are now easy to find. In 1985, Briscoe White opened The Growers Exchange in an abandoned Texaco station on a busy urban street corner in Richmond, Virginia.
